Nikon D80 - for All Shooting Styles
Probably the first thing that draws attention to the new Nikon Digital D80 is the 10.2 effective megapixel resolution. That alone makes the Nikon D80 worthy of your attention, but the full feature list is much more impressive.
The new high-resolution image processing engine inherits advantages that were originally developed just for Nikon’s professional line of digital cameras in order to efficiently process the 10.2 megapixel image quickly and with lower power consumption. The combination of color independent analog pre-conditioning with improved 12-bit digital image processing algorithms results in natural-looking images with faithful color and tone resolution. Skin tones are accurately reproduced, even when shooting in soft light, or people with darker complexions.
It’s also very fast! The D80 starts up in about 0.18 seconds and has a shutter release lag time of only about 80 milliseconds. That means you’re ready to shoot immediately, and you have instant response while shooting. You can shoot up to 3 frames per second in continuous bursts.
The advanced exposure system of the Nikon D80 automatically evaluates brightness, color, contrast, camera-to-subject distance and the focus area against an on-board database of over 30,000 actual photographic scenes to calculate the final exposure.
Automatic features in the Nikon D80 digital camera also includes an advanced auto-focus system that measures 11 different areas, determines which are on the primary subject, and activates only those areas. The Auto White Balance (AWB) produces natural coloration by matching white balance to the light source of the shot. With the D80’s automatic settings, anyone can take professional-quality photos.
Nikon D80 Accessories
Because the D80 is compatible with Nikon’s famous interchangeable lens system, not only can you use older Nikkor Auto-Focus SLR lenses, but also newer SLR lenses developed specifically for the digital line of cameras: including the latest Vibration Reduction (VR) series.
The Nikon D80 incorporates a built-in TTL flash, but also has a hot shoe and remote flash sync to allow the use of Nikon Speedlights and remote flash systems.
For framing your shot, multiple viewfinders are available, with magnifiers, eyecups, and angle viewfinders. These are all in addtion to the built-in 2.5 inch LCD display.
When increased camera stability is needed for very long exposures, remote control cables and wireless remote controls will allow shooting without touching the camera.
Power options include rechargeable LI-ION batteries, the multi-power battery pack (with extended shooting of up to 5,000 exposures), and an AC adapter for studio work.
Lastly, there is a full range of connectivity for printers, high speed computer transfer, and TV viewing directly from the camera.
